Netflix streaming service is
experiencing an outage that is preventing millions of subscribers in several
countries from viewing movies and TV shows.
The outage, which began at 6:45
p.m. PT, affects subscribers in both North and South America.
"We're aware that some members
are having trouble streaming TV shows and movies and are working to address the
problem," Netflix spokesperson Joris Evers told CNET.
Netflix revealed the outage in a
tweet response to user complaints of being unable to access the system.
The last significant outage to hit Netflix occurred last Christmas Eve when
a disruption in Amazon's cloud services hobbled Netflix's streaming services
for several hours. Netflix did not indicate what might have caused the most
recent outage.
Updated at 9:45 p.m. PT The service appears to be operational again
for many users. A Netflix representative said it is investigating the cause of
the outage. (source: cnet)
